Emily Bretl, LSW, MFTC

I support both individuals (adolescents and adults) and couples at any point of their own unique life’s journey. No problem is too big or too small – my aim to unburden symptoms of anxiety disorders, feelings of loneliness, negative self-image, depression, stress and burnout, grief, complex family and relational dynamics, and feelings of ‘stuckness’ and helplessness sits at the forefront of my mission. By engaging in open, healthy, and collaborative dialogue, we will use tools to help discover the stories that deserve a voice and parts of you that exist beyond the surface. I love working with clients who are motivated to challenge their current life narratives and take a leap into the vulnerable therapy space, even if they feel apprehensive about the process!

I specialize in relational based work, whether that is in friendship, family, or with romantic partners. I also spend a lot of concentered work focusing on sex and intimacy with adult individuals and couples, as well as working closely with anxiety disorders and fears.

I use systems and trauma-informed focused lenses when I work with all of my clients. I utilize parts work that helps to build on a working narrative we have of ourselves and aids in developing new narratives. I also have a values-based focus with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and come from an emotionally focused place in relational and individual work with EFT.

I have a diverse clinical background in the field of social work that has provided me with a lot of experience across many demographics. I have experience working with the homeless population, as a mental health therapist in an inpatient addiction treatment center, and in community mental health as an outpatient clinician for individuals ages 8-22 and their families. I also have a post-graduate certification in Marriage and Family Therapy from Denver Family Institute and have a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from University of Denver.
